Senior Site Manager – Care Home Construction – £80,000 Location: Reading, Berkshire Salary: £80,000 per annum Job Type: Full-Time Sector: Construction / Care Homes / Residential Start Date: ASAP The Opportunity Ridgeway & Co Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Site Manager to join an established construction contractor delivering a care home development in Reading, Berkshire. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Site Manager with a proven track record of managing new-build care home developments, overseeing site operations and delivering projects through to successful completion and handover. The successful candidate will take responsibility for managing day-to-day site operations, coordinating subcontractors, maintaining programme deadlines and ensuring all works are completed to the highest standards of quality and health and safety. The role requires someone who is confident managing multiple trades, driving progress on site and working closely with the Project Manager and wider construction team. Previous experience delivering care home construction projects is essential for this position. Key Responsibilities * Take responsibility for the day-to-day management and coordination of site operations on a new-build care home development. * Oversee construction activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with the agreed programme. * Manage and coordinate subcontractors across structural, internal, external and finishing packages. * Monitor subcontractor performance, productivity, workmanship and progress against programme milestones. * Coordinate works across bedrooms, bathrooms, corridors, communal areas, kitchens and associated care home facilities. * Oversee internal fit-out and finishing packages, including drylining, plastering, decorating, flooring, carpentry, joinery, kitchens, bathrooms and final finishes. * Work closely with the Project Manager to review construction programmes, identify potential delays and implement corrective measures. * Chair and attend subcontractor coordination meetings, ensuring clear communication of site priorities and deadlines. * Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, building regulations and quality standards. * Coordinate with mechanical and electrical subcontractors to ensure installations, testing and commissioning activities are completed in line with the programme. * Manage site logistics, deliveries, materials and labour resources to maintain productivity. * Carry out regular site inspections, identifying and resolving quality issues before they impact progress. * Oversee quality assurance procedures, inspections, snagging and defect management. * Ensure high standards of health and safety are maintained, including compliance with RAMS, site procedures and relevant legislation. * Maintain accurate site records, progress reports, inspection documentation and subcontractor performance records. * Liaise with the client, consultants, subcontractors and senior management throughout the project. * Drive the project through the final stages of construction, practical completion, client inspections and handover. * Support the successful delivery of a high-quality care home development that meets the client's expectations.
