Ridgeway & Co are looking for an experienced External Works Manager to join a Main Contractor on a major project in Epsom, Surrey. You will take responsibility for managing all external works packages, from substructure, drainage, and services to infrastructure, and then progressing onto the hard and soft landscaping phases. This is an excellent opportunity to deliver high-quality works with a respected main contractor, with scope to broaden your experience into other areas such as facades and roofing for future career development. Key Responsibilities * Manage all external works including substructure, drainage, utilities, infrastructure, and landscaping. * Conduct spot checks to verify gridlines, datums, levels, and ensure works are set out correctly. * Escort inspectors (NHBC, Premier Guarantee, Building Control) during visits, ensuring works are compliant and ready for sign-off. * Interpret programmes and monitor progress, highlighting any delays or issues to the project team. * Attend daily briefings and weekly progress meetings, reporting on status and coordinating with contractors and site teams. * Ensure high standards of health & safety, site housekeeping, and compliance with permits and site procedures. * Coordinate subcontractors on site to deliver works to specification, design, and detail. * Use construction management software (Procore) and site tablets to record QA, inspections, and site data. * Use instruments such as EDMs and laser levels for checks where required (preferred but not essential). * Support with CAD/DWG drawing checks and updates where needed. Key Requirements * Proven experience managing external works on major construction projects. * Strong technical knowledge of substructure, drainage, utilities, and landscaping works. * Confident interpreting programmes, design drawings, specifications, and details. * Experience using construction management software (Procore preferred) and good IT skills (Microsoft Office, emails). * Familiarity with CAD/DWG files and layouts. * Good working knowledge of H&S standards and site safety procedures. * SMSTS and CSCS are essential; First Aid and Temporary Works Coordinator certificates are an advantage
