If you are a Structural Engineer with a proven track record in defect diagnosis and structural investigations, we have an opportunity to join our experienced team. Your role will involve carrying out site inspections, and preparing reports and schedules of remedial works. These inspections will be on a variety of properties across sectors, including residential, commercial, healthcare and education.
The role will also involve supporting the team day to day with client liaison, fee proposals, invoicing and mentoring other members of the team. The role will be flexible with a combination of office, site and remote working. The preference is full time; however, a 4-day working week will be considered for the right candidate.
What you need to do to be effective in this role:
- Carrying out structural surveys of buildings and structures and providing advice on any issues that may arise
- Site visits to assess suitability for alterations and produce design drawings
- Prepare reports on observations, findings and recommendations
- Prepare schedule of remedial works
- Oversee the production of design drawings and preparing specifications for tender purposes
- Analyse and report on structural defects and remediation if required
- Visiting sites during the construction phase to monitor progress and provide advice to contractors
- Understanding and following internal QA procedures and processes
- Assisting with preparing fee proposals and scope of services for new projects
- Assisting with managing the fees on projects against the scope of services and issuing invoices
- Liaising positively with clients and maintaining strong client relationships and repeat work
- Mentoring and supporting other less experienced team members
Skills and experience you need to have for this role:
- Ability to evidence broad and proven structural design experience in core materials: concrete, steel, masonry and timber
- Ability to evidence a breadth of UK based structural design and investigation experience
- Excellent communication skills, in both written and spoken English
- MIStructE / MICE Chartered membership is preferred, but is not essential for the right candidate with strong evidence and a proven track record.
