We have an opportunity for an ambitious Quantity Surveyor wishing to progress their career to join our cost management team. You will work closely with senior team members, supporting the delivery of a variety of projects, sectors, and clients in the Manchester team. You will be working for an award-winning multi-disciplinary consultancy with experience of working on projects worth up to £1Bn with clients including leading defence sector businesses, large corporations, developers, schools/universities, contractors, and infrastructure.
What you need to do to be effective in this role:
- Manage and be the single point of contact for the day-to-day delivery of projects.
- Attend client-facing meetings, dealing with multi-disciplined teams and project delivery.
- Provide building cost advice at various RIBA Stages including preparation of feasibility estimates, cost plans, pre-tender estimates, and the like.
- Undertake measurement in accordance with defined standards.
- Provide advice on contracts, procurement strategy, risk management, value engineering, and the overall tendering process.
- Prepare, issue, evaluate, and report on tenders.
- Prepare contract documentation.
- Agreement of monthly valuations.
- Preparation of monthly cost reports.
- Valuing and agreeing post-contract variations and negotiate final accounts.
- Undertake cost research, market testing, and data capture.
- Assist with compliance with QA requirements.
- Develop relationships with existing clients, consultants, and contractors.
- Develop new relationships with clients, consultants, and contractors.
Skills and experience you need to have for this role:
- The ability to work on a series of projects with different clients.
- Able to demonstrate experience of using the JCT suite of contracts.
- Experience of pre and post contract quantity surveying duties including procurement and valuations.
- Be enthusiastic and ambitious.
- Experience using MS Office, particularly MS Excel and CostX or other industry standard measurement software.
- Hold UK driving licence.
Qualifications:
- A relevant degree qualification (RICS accredited or equivalent).
- MRICS Chartered or working towards.
