Ridge is seeking a dynamic Digital Engineering Consultant (all levels considered) with an MEP bias to elevate the impact of digital technology and BIM processes across the UK. This role offers a unique opportunity to embed digital excellence into every stage of MEP design – enhancing model and drawing production, improving coordination and design accuracy, and streamlining delivery. The role will also involve collaboration with other disciplines to enhance aspects of our digital interdisciplinary practices.
Working closely with the Digital Engineering MEP Lead, you will work as part of our dedicated Digital Engineering Group (DEG), a team at the forefront of driving innovation across our disciplines. This collaboration ensures that digital technology and BIM methodologies are not only implemented consistently but also continuously evolved to meet the needs of a cutting-edge, multidisciplinary, built environment consultancy. You will contribute to shaping digital standards, mentoring teams, and aligning project delivery with Ridge's broader digital strategy – ensuring that every project benefits from the latest tools, processes, insights, and best practices.
This role will be based in one of our UK offices in line with our Agile Working Policy which requires individuals to be in the office or on site for more than half the week. The role will require regular travel to other offices around the UK for face-to-face meetings, workshops, training, and presentations.
What you need to do to be effective in this role:
- Support the development and delivery of the DEG overarching strategic objectives
- Coordinate comms and meetings with a national network of MEP BIM Champions
- Collaborate with DEG MEP Lead to achieve strategic outcomes
- Lead and coordinate the MEP digital integration activities
- Conduct continuous research into the latest MEP digital trends and feedback to the discipline
- Lead the definition of how we integrate Revit MEP with other design tools (eg. IES, M&E design software plugins / NBS)
- Develop and maintain MEP components and infrastructure for MEP tools – and coordinate with Architecture Engineering/Structural Engineering
- Deliver strategic digital projects requested/prioritised by the MEP discipline (eg. BWIC process in Revit)
- Deliver training on specific MEP software (Revit, IES etc) topics in response to the discipline's needs
- Support MEP bid responses or capability assessments that require digital and BIM expertise
- Respond to escalated technical helpdesk queries escalated by the “first line” support.
- Support the annual BIM certification for the business
The skills and experience you need to have for this role:
Qualifications:
- A relevant degree or qualification in Building Services Engineering or equivalent skills and experience.
- Deep understanding of BIM principles, workflows, and standards, particularly ISO 19650.
- Proficiency in Revit MEP, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), and other MEP digital tools.
Essential Experience:
- Extensive experience in the Building Services engineering discipline and design / coordination of engineering services.
- Demonstrable leadership in Digital Engineering or BIM Management roles.
- Proven ability to develop and implement Revit MEP content and documentation strategies.
- Delivery of effective training programmes to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Experience:
- Strategic development and deployment of Digital Engineering initiatives.
- Involvement in discipline-specific innovation, such as Revit-driven Room Data Sheets or BWIC processes.
- Membership in professional bodies such as CIBSE, Nima, IET or equivalent.
