We are seeking a Mechanical Building Services Engineer to join our expanding Plymouth office. This is an excellent opportunity for engineers who are ready to deepen their technical expertise and take on greater responsibility within a supportive, collaborative team. You will work across a wide variety of projects throughout the South West, ranging from small refurbishments to large, high-profile developments. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience, structured professional development, and the opportunity to work with multidisciplinary design teams, helping you advance toward EngTech, IEng, or CEng registration through our accredited mentor scheme.
What You'll Do
- Design & Technical Delivery
- Produce design calculations, reports, specifications, and detailed mechanical design solutions.
- Prepare and contribute to technical output documents that support mechanical system designs.
- Use CAD, BIM (Revit), and mechanical calculation tools to develop compliant and coordinated building services designs.
- Support the demonstration of compliance with relevant standards and project requirements.
- Site & Project Support
- Undertake site surveys, inspections, defect recording, and witnessing activities under the guidance of a senior engineer.
- Contribute to project meetings and design reviews, providing technical input as required.
- Collaboration & Coordination
- Work alongside internal and external design and construction professionals, including architects, surveyors, structural engineers, and contractors.
- Assist in ensuring smooth coordination of mechanical designs within multidisciplinary project environments.
About You
- Essential
- Eligible to work in the UK (visa sponsorship not available).
- Significant experience in mechanical building services design. However, we will consider candidates with less experience for an intermediate engineer role.
- A relevant qualification (Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a project design team.
- Desirable
- Experience using Revit for building services design.
- Experience using mechanical calculation software.
- Understanding of UK building regulations and industry standards.
- Previous involvement in site-based inspections or surveys.
