We are seeking a passionate and focused Senior Level Building Surveyor who is looking to progress their career, working in an established team based in Cheltenham on national and local commissions. Sectors are varied but include public buildings and estates, residential and housing, education, retail, healthcare, and commercial.
As a Senior Building Surveyor at Ridge, you will benefit from on-the-job learning experiences whilst working on prestigious projects. Our projects include large residential, industrial, commercial and educational schemes with contract values over £30 million to much smaller schemes across a variety of project management and core Building Surveying roles. Responsibilities:
- Client management and contract administration / practice duties
- Provide advice on the design, construction, maintenance, repair and refurbishment of all types of residential, commercial properties and educational facilities
- Carry out building and condition surveys
- Provide advice on buildings ensuring they conform to the latest building regulations and technical standards
- Taking particulars on site, writing up specifications, obtaining tenders, planning maintenance programmes and administering contracts for maintenance work
- Analyse and report on building defects
- Handling claims and negotiations with loss adjusters leading to the preparation of drawings and specifications for remedial work for insurance purposes
- Prepare schedules of dilapidations
- Undertake the role of quality monitor on various schemes including housing schemes
- Lead and manage teams preparing designs for extensions, refurbishment schemes and new build developments ranging from £50k to £4m
- Notices, Schedules of Condition and Awards for Party Wall matters
- Leading projects and often co-ordinating our in-house multi-discipline design services
- Client management and development
- Supervising, managing and mentoring junior members of the building surveying team
- Technical reviews to manage the quality of our services
Qualifications:
- MRICS
- Consultancy experience
- Capable of managing individual team members, organising their work where necessary and providing guidance on projects
- Good communication and client-facing skills
- Excellent all-round technical building surveying knowledge
- An analytical mind with a high level of intellect - combining excellent written and oral skills to produce considered and robust reports and recommendations
