About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Principal Civil Engineer to lead the successful delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects for major UK water companies. This role will be based in our Winchester office and will involve technical leadership, project direction, client relationship management, and mentoring of engineering teams across a diverse portfolio of asset, treatment, network, and environmental projects.
About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Principal Civil Engineer to lead the successful delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects for major UK water companies. This role will be based in our Winchester office and will involve technical leadership, project direction, client relationship management, and mentoring of engineering teams across a diverse portfolio of asset, treatment, network, and environmental projects. You will be responsible for overseeing the technical quality and commercial performance of projects from feasibility through to detailed design and construction support.
Responsibilities
- Lead multidisciplinary design teams on water sector programmes and projects.
- Act as Project Manager or Design Lead on major commissions.
- Develop technical solutions for water and wastewater infrastructure.
- Manage client relationships and identify opportunities for repeat business.
- Oversee project delivery, budgets, programmes, and resource planning.
- Review and approve technical reports, drawings, specifications, and calculations.
- Provide technical leadership and quality assurance.
- Support framework bidding activities and business development initiatives.
- Mentor and develop engineers and technicians within the team.
- Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, environmental, and CDM requirements.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng MICE or equivalent).
- Extensive experience delivering UK water sector projects.
- Strong understanding of water industry standards and specifications.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams.
- Commercial awareness and project management capability.
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
- NEC project experience.
- Framework delivery experience for UK water companies.
- Knowledge of BIM and digital engineering workflows.
