We have an opportunity for a skilled Structural Engineer with good experience delivering new buildings, large surveys, and refurbishment projects, to join our team. You will assist in the provision of a wide range of structural engineering services. The projects we work on include a variety of large complex schemes through to smaller local client focussed tasks. We work both in the UK and internationally with interesting clients including F1 Teams, airports, schools/universities, contractors, developers, and local authorities.
What you need to do to be effective in this role:
- Prepare outline designs for structural schemes based on our client’s brief
- Carry out detailed design calculations to Eurocodes using the latest 3D design software
- Co‑ordinate your designs with other design disciplines and specialists with BIM
- Assist with the production of detailed design drawings and specifications for tender purposes
- Visit sites during the construction phase to monitor on‑site progress
- Carry out structural surveys of existing buildings and advise on any issues that may arise
- Analyse and report on structural defects in existing buildings and structures
- Check outgoing and incoming documents, including contractors’ proposal documentation
The skills and experience you need to have for this role:
- A good understanding of basic structural behaviour
- A proactive approach with a can‑do attitude
- Be a team player within the structures team, the wider teams in the office and company and with clients and collaborators
- Degree in structural or civil engineering and be working towards professional chartership status
- Proven experience of working in structural design and site experience in a construction company
- A good understanding of the basic regulatory requirements including Eurocodes - this will be covered in your interview
- Experience and understanding of sustainability issues within structural design
- Be a proficient user of structural analysis software such as TEKLA, Masterseries, SCIA and TEDDS
- Competency at report writing and other forms of design communication.
