We are seeking a passionate and focused Senior Level Chartered Building Surveyor who is looking to progress their career, working in an established team. Sectors are varied but include public buildings and estates, residential and housing, education, retail, healthcare, and commercial.
You will be expected to be heavily involved in key client development, financial forecasting, team management and growth. As a Senior Chartered Building Surveyor at Ridge you will benefit from on‑the‑job learning experiences whilst working on prestigious projects. Our projects include large residential, industrial, commercial and educational schemes with contract values over £30 million to much smaller schemes across a variety of Project Management and core Building Surveying roles.

What you need to do to be effective in this role:
- Client management and contract administration/practice duties
- Provide advice on the design, construction, maintenance, repair and refurbishment of all types of residential, commercial properties and educational facilities
- Carry out building, measured and condition surveys
- Ensure buildings conform to the latest building regulations and technical standards
- Taking particulars on site, writing up specifications, obtaining estimates, planning maintenance programmes and administering contracts for maintenance work
- Analyse and report on building defects
- Handling claims and negotiations with loss adjusters leading to the preparation of drawings and specifications for remedial work
- Prepare schedules of dilapidations
- Provide advice, prepare and submit planning applications
- Undertake the role of quality monitor on various schemes including housing schemes
- Prepare designs for extensions, refurbishment schemes and new build developments ranging from £50,000 to £4m
- Prepare Notices, Schedules of Condition and Awards for Party Wall matters
- Hands on delivery of building surveying services with bias to project work
- Leading projects and often co‑ordinating our in‑house multi‑discipline design services
- Client management and development
- Supervising, managing and mentoring junior members of the building surveying team
- Technical reviews to manage the quality of our services
The skills and experience you need to have for this role:
- MRICS
- You may be requested to complete a security clearance as part of your employment
- Consultancy experience
- Be commercially minded for winning work and business development
- Capable of managing individual team members, organising their work where necessary and providing guidance on projects
- Good communication and client facing skills
- Excellent all‑round technical building surveying knowledge
- An analytical mind with a high level of intellect – combining excellent written and oral skills to produce considered and robust reports and recommendations
- You may be requested to travel within the UK and occasionally overseas to support project work
