We are seeking an intelligent, resourceful, motivated, and highly collaborative team player to join our specialist practice. In this role, you will contribute to the delivery of written expert advice and evidence in legal disputes across the construction and engineering sectors. This role will be based in Manchester; however, if you are located close to our other offices, please do express your interest in this opportunity.
What you need to do to be effective in this role:
- You will contribute to the delivery of written expert advice and evidence in legal disputes across the construction and engineering sectors.
- You will be a Paralegal or Solicitor with experience in construction law, confident working with expert witnesses and familiar with standard building contracts.
- You may already be working as a Professional Support Lawyer or be looking for a role with similar responsibilities.
- You are highly literate, able to produce clear, well-structured, and persuasive written work at pace.
- You can quickly grasp complex technical concepts and translate them into accurate, accessible explanations.
- You have a meticulous eye for detail and are comfortable undertaking rigorous quality assurance of expert reports.
- In your QA, you will ask probing questions of the report author, suggest improved phrasing, highlight omissions or breaks in causation, raise points that may not be fully supported by the evidence, and assist generally with report finalisation.
The skills and experience you need to have for this role:
- Qualified paralegal or solicitor.
- Strong academic background (minimum 2:1 degree or equivalent).
- Experience working in construction law.
- Familiarity with major building contracts (NEC, JCT, FIDIC, etc.).
