This is an exciting opportunity to join our rapidly expanding national Building Performance team in our Manchester office (would consider Leeds). We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated individual to play a crucial role in defining and delivering the decarbonisation strategies, net zero strategies and sustainability strategies for a diverse range of high-profile projects across the UK built environment. The Opportunity & Role Profile
Reporting to the National Leads, this role is twofold: combining high-level client engagement with internal team leadership. You will be key in developing and growing our technical and service offerings across multiple sectors.
Responsibilities
- Client Leadership: Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, guiding them through complex Net Zero Carbon (NZC), Decarbonisation, and Circular Economy goals and strategies.
- Project Leadership: Take ownership of high-profile projects from concept through to completion, ensuring the delivery of high-performance environmental design solutions.
- Team Leadership: Working with the National Leads, play a vital role in the future of the Northern and National Building Performance team, sharing line management responsibilities, and actively accelerating the development of junior staff through dedicated mentoring, training, and effective delegation.
- Core Technical Expertise: The ideal candidate will possess deep, proven expertise and strong experience in any of the following simulation tools and technical deliverables, enabling you to effectively coach and support junior team members:
- TM54 (Operational Energy Modelling) and In-Use Energy Assessment.
- TM59 / Part O (Overheating Risk Assessment).
- Part L Compliance Modelling and Energy Strategies.
- Passivhaus principles and design verification.
- Developing Decarbonisation Roadmaps and Net Zero Carbon Strategies.
- Whole Life Carbon (WLC) Assessment and Circular Economy analysis.
Key Activities
- Act as the Project Engineer and technical lead, taking full ownership of project delivery and resourcing requirements.
- Lead workshops with clients and design teams, effectively communicating complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.
- Mentor and develop junior colleagues, ensuring their rapid upskilling and career acceleration within a dynamic environment.
- Delegate, manage, and review technical work undertaken by the wider team, ensuring quality assurance.
- Conduct advanced modelling and analysis, including embodied carbon assessments, building performance simulation, and energy generation feasibility studies.
- Support the leadership team in business development activities, including the production of high-quality fee proposals and successful tender submissions.
