As demand for our architectural expertise continues to grow, we're looking for an Architect to join our Manchester team and play a significant role in the delivery of high-profile projects across a diverse range of sectors.
This is an opportunity to join an established AJ100 practice that forms an integral part of Ridge's wider multi-disciplinary business. You'll work alongside architects, engineers, project managers, building surveyors and specialist consultants, contributing to projects from early concept development through to technical delivery and construction.
Our current workload spans advanced manufacturing, science and technology, education, defence and workplace environments. The breadth of our portfolio means you'll have the opportunity to develop your expertise across multiple sectors while working on projects that present genuine technical and design challenges.
We work throughout the UK and internationally, delivering projects ranging from individual buildings through to large-scale and complex developments. Whatever the scale, our approach remains the same: combining technical excellence, practical thinking and collaborative design to create environments that support the people who use them.
The Role
As an Architect within our Manchester team, you will:
- Lead and coordinate architectural projects through multiple design and delivery stages
- Support and mentor junior team members, helping to maintain high standards across project work
- Develop strong client relationships and contribute to the successful delivery of commissions
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across Ridge's multidisciplinary teams
- Produce high-quality design and technical information using Revit
- Prepare technical drawing packages, specifications and project documentation
- Manage planning applications and Building Regulations submissions
- Undertake site inspections and support projects through the construction phase
- Apply practical and commercially aware problem-solving skills to meet programme and budget requirements
- Demonstrate the value that architecture brings to the wider project team and client objectives
What You'll Be Working On
You will be involved in a varied portfolio of work spanning advanced manufacturing facilities, science and research environments, education campuses, defence infrastructure and commercial workplace projects.
Many of our commissions require close collaboration across multiple disciplines, giving architects early involvement in project strategy as well as detailed design and technical delivery. This creates opportunities to broaden your experience, strengthen your technical expertise and gain exposure to complex projects that are often difficult to access within a single-discipline practice.
About You
We're interested in architects who combine strong technical capability with a collaborative approach to design and project delivery.
You should be able to demonstrate:
- Proven experience within UK architectural practice
- Strong technical detailing and project delivery skills
- Proficiency in Revit
- Experience preparing technical drawing packages and specifications
- Knowledge of UK planning processes, Building Regulations and industry standards
- The ability to communicate ideas clearly, verbally, visually and in writing
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- A practical approach to problem-solving and project management
Experience working on complex, highly regulated or secure projects would be advantageous, although not essential.
