We are looking for a Transport Planner with a proven track record in development planning, delivering transport planning projects and ideally within a consultancy background. The role is designed for individuals with a passion for transport planning through a proactive, can-do attitude and an interest in collaborative working opportunities. The role would be perfect for a Transport Planner, with appropriate experience, looking for the next step in their career and to develop their skillset.
The main responsibilities of this role will be to guide clients and assist in project delivery. You will be expected to be both proficient with technical aspects and have the commercial awareness. We are looking for an individual who can deliver high-quality technical planning service deliverables from the transport team and assist and work with the wider disciplines at Ridge to continue to build our excellent reputation.
What you need to do to be effective in this role:
- Analyses relating to transportation/traffic engineering projects including traffic modelling, database, spreadsheet and proprietary modelling coding and interrogation.
- Ideally experience in the design of planning stage highway design solutions for proposed developments.
- Preparation of technical reports and presentations relating to the project as required in line with company and client requirements as well as national standards and codes of practice.
- Working in collaboration with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design.
- Liaising with the Project Partner / Manager and client to keep informed of all developments associated with the project.
- Assisting in the resolution of complex technical issues.
- Document management, including drawing registers.
- Providing transport planning advice to colleagues and clients.
- Monitoring and managing project budgets and programmes.
The skills and experience you need to have for this role:
- Degree in transport related/numeric subject (e.g. Transport, Mathematics, Geography, Civil Engineering) or equivalent.
- Team player, self-starter and problem solver with a 'can-do' attitude.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Confident and outgoing individual.
- Relevant experience, including a range of development projects, preferably within the UK private sector.
- Commercial awareness and the confidence, ability and experience to provide clear, authoritative advice.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Project.
- An excellent knowledge of the principles of transport planning and understanding of trip generation, trip distribution, design standards, and the contents of Transport Assessments/Statements and Travel Plan is required.
- A detailed understanding of TRICS, Junctions 10 and LinSig is required. Skills in CAD, road safety engineering, junction design and assessment would be an advantage.
- Client focused with good interpersonal skills and collaborative working approach with a high level of commitment to quality.
- Full current driving licence.
