Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) is hiring a Media & Communications professional at Manager level. This is an exciting new role, reflecting the increased importance of external communications activity within our growing business. RLB has expanded its service offering and geographic coverage over the last five years, with approx. 1,500 employees across UK and Europe operating across some fourteen sectors within the built environment.

We need a dynamic Media & Communications Manager to develop and deliver engaging communications activity externally, to build the RLB brand and support the business' strategic objectives. This role reports to the Head of Brand & Communications and will work closely with RLB's external communications agency, and wider Sales & Marketing team in the delivery of external communications activity. The successful candidate will act as an advisor to senior leadership to ensure best-in-class external communication practices and create informative and exciting content across all channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with senior leadership, Head of Brand & Comms and external communications agency to deliver a comprehensive external communications strategy aligned with business strategy and growth priorities.
  • Deliver communications activity across all external channels to enhance brand visibility and reputation.
  • Build and manage relationships with stakeholders across the media spectrum to ensure regular, accurate coverage of RLB, projects and campaigns.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, to translate insights into compelling narratives that position RLB as an expert voice in the built environment.
  • Act as a key spokesperson where necessary, supporting interviews, media engagements, and crisis communication activity.
  • Implement communications plans for RLB's key campaigns and priority sectors working closely with the Marketing Solutions team and external communications agency.
  • Promote news and project success to raise RLB's profile with target audiences.
  • Create high-impact content, including PR, blogs, thought leadership and social posts, ensuring consistency in messaging and alignment with business priorities.
  • Work with Brand & Comms and Marketing Solutions team to develop visually engaging digital assets, including infographics, interactive reports, and video content.
  • Lead on the monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of media coverage.
  • Be a role model for our values.

Skills and experience

  • Strong skills in written communication, copywriting and editing.
  • Proven background in external communications, working in a matrixed/professional services environment.
  • Knowledge of the built environment is preferred but not essential.
  • Experience working with Senior Leadership with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Expertise in multichannel communications, including traditional, digital, and social media.
  • Knowledgeable about current affairs and industry trends.
  • Previous experience in developing and managing communications plans for key projects and initiatives.
  • Track record of building relationships with key journalists.
  • Multi-task and prioritise work to deliver to demanding deadlines.
  • Work in a collegiate way with colleagues to achieve best outcomes.
  • Experience using digital platforms for engagement, reach and analysis.
