Role Overview
The role is suited for a Building Control professional with experience in the sector, who will advise a range of clients and projects. Excellent interpersonal skills are required due to the client‑facing nature of the role. Candidates who have completed or are in the process of completing their registration through BICoF (Upper Class 2 or Class 3) are preferred.
Role Responsibilities
- Provide Building Regulations support to our external project teams and internal design team (including Principal Designer).
- Undertake inspections, site visits and prepare reports.
- Provide advice on building control processes (e.g. notices, notifications etc).
- Undertake systematic reviews of designs and inspections to inform the extent of building regulations compliance.
- Provide advice and training on matters related to Building Safety Act, secondary legislation affecting building control processes.
- Liaise with duty‑holders, and other parties to ensure compliance on projects.
- Attend client and design team meetings to give professional advice regarding building control regulations.
- Chair workshops internally and externally.
- Provide technical advice to clients, contractors, developers, colleagues, and key stakeholders.
- Ensure projects are completed in line with current building regulations and legislation.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications
- Relatable built environment degree.
- Class 2 or Class 3 registration through BICoF (completed or in process).
- Membership to CABE, CIOB or RICS.
Experience
- Experience of inspecting buildings and properties.
- Excellent knowledge of approved documents, design processes, building regulations, codes and legislation.
