Role Overview
This role is ideal for someone with strong technical capability in Building Regulations, design coordination, and managing submissions to Building Control—fully aligned with the evolving BRPD responsibilities under the Building Regulations (Amendments) and Higher‑Risk Buildings Procedures.
Role Responsibilities
- Review design information, technical packages, manufacturers’ details, consultant reports, and specifications to verify compliance with relevant Approved Documents.
- Lead or support the preparation of Building Regulations packages for submission to Approved Inspectors / Building Control Authorities.
- Coordinate responses to plan‑check reports, resolving queries with design teams and ensuring non‑conformances are addressed.
- Support Principal Designers in ensuring designs comply with statutory regulations throughout the pre‑construction phase.
- Assist Principal Designers in planning, managing, and monitoring design work to ensure compliance with Building Regulations.
- Prepare documentation and technical evidence for Building Control submissions.
- Respond to Building Control queries and coordinate submissions of revised drawings or specifications.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications
- Building safety qualification (or working towards).
- Health and safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH General Certificate).
- Professional membership (or working towards) such as CIAT, CABE, CIOB, ICWCI.
Experience
- Demonstrable experience producing and coordinating technical design packages for Building Regulations submissions.
- Strong knowledge of Building Regulations and relevant British Standards.
- Experience liaising with Approved Inspectors / Building Control Authorities.
- Proven experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and reviewing consultant information.
