Job title: Scientist (Chemistry & Nanoparticles)
Location: Central Cambridge
Reports to: Head of Platform Technology
Summary: Ride Therapeutics are seeking a scientist to contribute to our nanoparticle preparation team. The successful candidate will work closely with other team members to carry out and improve molecular biology methods and produce consistent material for other parts of our workflow.
Key responsibilities:
- Carry out and optimise processes for nanoparticle production, including manual and microfluidic nanoparticle preparation, purification, and characterisation.
- Work on multiplexed reactions using pipetting robots
- Carry out molecular biology processes to support nanoparticle production such as PCR and protein purification
- Assist with transfection of therapeutic formulations in cell culture
- Maintain accurate and current records of experimental work
- Perform routine laboratory procedures, regular quality control and set up of equipment
- Communicate complex ideas and concepts to those with limited knowledge and understanding as well as to peers
Skills, qualifications and experience:
- Undergraduate and PhD degrees in Chemical Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related discipline, and/or significant relevant industry experience.
- Experience in the following techniques: assay design, qPCR and other nucleic acid characterisation techniques, fluorescence spectroscopy, biomolecule separation and purification
- Experience with nanoparticle production and characterisation, RNA therapeutics, protein modification, microfluidic device operation and eukaryotic cell culture is a plus
- Evidence of high proficiency in experimental design, execution, troubleshooting, data analysis, and communication of results
- Evidence of ability to quickly learn new techniques and work in a small team
- Evidence of ability to lead, organise and participate in collaborative research projects
- 1+ years of prior relevant experience working in industry
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Evidence of ability to present research findings to an internal and external audience
- Desire to be part of a highly collaborative, dynamic, and agile team
