General Statement of Duties: Within the Department of Human Services (DHS), to perform a variety of customer service and clerical duties, including but not limited to:

  • Greeting and registering customers into the eligibility system.
  • Verifying and/or changing non-financial data collection information.
  • Producing digital copies of documents and ensuring the quality of original and digital copies.
  • Filing and indexing digital copies.
  • Performing receptionist duties such as greeting and directing customers.
  • Preparing, verifying, sorting, batching and scanning all documents for new and existing customers.
  • Organising, maintaining, and/or purging files, documents, applications, and forms.
  • Answering phones, taking messages and transferring calls to appropriate personnel.
  • Operating office equipment such as scanning machines, copiers, calculators, and other office machines.
  • Preparing requisitions, vouchers, claims and other records related to fiscal activities.

Required Qualifications for Appointment:

Knowledges, Skills and Capacities: A working knowledge of office practices; the ability to work independently or in collaboration with others; the ability to adapt to changing tasks; attention to detail; proficiency working on computer equipment; basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Education: Graduation from high school or high school equivalency (GED).

Experience: Employment in a position involving the performance of simple routine repetitive clerical work.
