What you will be doing
- To work closely with the Sales and Sales Overlay teams on Datacentre, Cloud and Networking (DC&N) opportunities, providing technical Pre‑Sales expertise to support opportunity qualification and solution development.
- Acting as a trusted technical advisor, responsible for shaping robust technical solutions, validating customer requirements, developing high‑quality designs, and ensuring proposals meet both customer needs and Ricoh’s commercial and strategic objectives.
- This includes direct engagement with customers, creating clear and comprehensive technical documentation, and contributing to the growth and continual improvement of Ricoh’s DC&N portfolio.
- Designing Datacentre, Cloud and Networking system solutions & technical proposals, gathered through direct liaison with customers to meet their technical specifications/requirements or project briefs.
- Design end‑to‑end Datacentre, Cloud and Networking solutions, engaging directly with customers to gather technical requirements, understand project briefs, and translate them into robust technical proposals.
- Create and confidently present solution proposals to internal and external stakeholders, clearly articulating the technical rationale, design choices, and alignment with customer needs to support the sales process.
- Produce well‑engineered and streamlined Bills of Materials (BoM), ensuring accuracy and readiness for pricing by Sales or Support teams, including providing technical approval for opportunity sign‑off of BoMs and proposals.
- Reverse‑engineer competitor solutions, technical briefs, RFIs and RFPs, and re‑design proposals to provide compliant, high‑performance and competitive alternative solutions.
- Generate detailed technical diagrams, including system schematics, rack layouts, cabling schedules, room layouts and coordination diagrams using tools such as Visio, including producing and marking up ‘as‑built’ drawings when required.
- Provide technical support to Sales and Pricing teams, contributing to proposals, RFI/RFP submissions, explaining solution designs and product functionality, and helping upskill colleagues in Datacentre technologies where appropriate.
- Collaborate with the wider Pre‑Sales team to research emerging and innovative technologies, providing informed recommendations for portfolio enhancement and internal evaluation.
You will ideally have
- Significant experience within a similar role within an IT integrator or IT Consultancy
- Knowledge and experience in the design of the following:
- LAN technologies
- WAN technologies
- Wireless LAN solutions
- Network and perimeter security technologies
- Storage platforms
- Compute solutions, including virtualisation technologies
- Backup, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity solutions
- Cloud and Hybrid Cloud architectures
- HCI and dHCI solutions
