Responsibilities:

  • Advise and support managers on disciplinary, grievance, performance, and sickness absence cases from start to finish, ensuring consistent, fair, and timely outcomes in line with legislation, policy and best practice.
  • Coach managers to handle sensitive issues confidently, including supporting investigations while preparing and maintaining appropriate documentation.
  • Work with managers to identify patterns with sickness absence in order to reduce absence levels, and support employee wellbeing through early intervention and appropriate adjustments.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative and productive relationships with business functional areas and managers, establishing professional credibility.
  • Support the review and updating of HR policies, ensuring they remain legally compliant, relevant, and practical for the business.
  • Provide accurate, timely and relevant management information to the business, identifying levers for change and making recommendations.
  • Support the development and delivery of training on HR related matters to equip managers with appropriate skills and knowledge.
  • Support workforce planning, role changes, restructures and consultation processes when required.

Qualifications:

  • Strong, up‑to‑date understanding of UK employment legislation.
  • Proven experience managing ER cases including disciplinary, grievance, and sickness.
  • Ability to interpret policies and legislation and apply them in a commercially practical way.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence, coach, and challenge constructively.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
  • CIPD part or fully qualified (or equivalent experience) preferred.
  • Good verbal aptitude for producing reports and correspondence.
  • Good customer service skills (internal).
  • High level interpersonal skills, e.g. conflict resolution.
