About the job
We are looking for an Edit Assistant to join our internal post production department in Brighton. This is a key role supporting a busy slate of productions, ensuring the smooth running of edit workflows across the facility. This position would suit someone who enjoys technically precise work, takes pride in well‑organised Avid projects, and is keen to develop and apply their Edit Assistant skills across a range of productions.
Key Responsibilities
- Syncing picture and sound accurately using both timecode and non‑timecode workflows
- Assisting with compiling work as required, for productions posting internally
- Creating clean, well‑organised sequences and groups tailored to editorial needs
- Preparing and maintaining projects so all rushes are fully prepped, checked and editor‑ready
- Ingesting and transcoding material to required codecs, with effective media management throughout
- Setting up and maintaining organised project structures, bins and logs
- Supporting editors across on‑site and remote edits with calm and effective technical troubleshooting
- Creating playouts, screeners and review exports, and distributing materials to production posting internally
- Ensuring good media housekeeping and contributing to the smooth day‑to‑day running of the post‑production department
Skills & Experience
- Solid working knowledge of Avid Media Composer
- Previous experience as an Edit Assistant within a production company or post‑production facility
- Strong experience syncing and compiling material, both with and without timecode
- Good understanding of media management, codecs and post workflows
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
- Calm, methodical and able to work effectively under pressure
- A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop within post‑production
