The role of Commis Chef in this luxury retirement village is a unique blend of culinary skill and lifestyle balance. With no late nights or split shifts, you will enjoy a harmonious work‑life rhythm while showcasing your talents across a variety of dining settings, from the intimate care home to the bustling restaurant. This position offers a chance to make a meaningful impact on residents' lives through the universal language of delicious food, all within the comfort of a refined and serene environment.

Passionate about food, you bring experience working in a variety of high‑volume, multi‑service, and quality kitchens. With expertise in diverse cuisines and cooking techniques, you possess a comprehensive understanding of the catering and hospitality industry, including Care Homes, hotels, conference centres, high‑quality pubs, restaurants and outside catering.

Working in such a refined and serene environment, you’ll have the opportunity to showcase your talents across various dining settings, from intimate care‑home meals to bustling restaurant and clubhouse events.

Responsibilities:

  • Catering to residents, visitors and the public across the village
  • Prepare and cook food in accordance with food hygiene regulations against a set menu to a consistent and high quality standard
  • Deliver front‑of‑house services to customers ensuring consistent standards
  • Work within the extensive HACCP framework tailored to a Health Care Environment
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic working area
  • Respond to residents and customers dietary needs and personal preferences

Qualifications and Skills:

You are adept at catering for customers with special dietary requirements and have a solid understanding of health and safety procedures, ideally supported by an NVQ level 3 or equivalent City & Guilds and CIEH certification and demonstrable cooking skills. Open to new ideas, you’ll have an innovative yet organised approach to cooking, always adhering to high standards and remaining calm during a busy service. You’ll enjoy working with others, working together to create and deliver an excellent dining experience at each meal. Because we care for vulnerable people, you’ll need to complete a DBS check as part of the recruitment process. Bupa will cover the cost of this (£40).
