We're recruiting for a Senior Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Richmond Campus. You will be working as part of the Inclusive Learning Team to provide additional learning support to students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities on mainstream programmes across college.
You will work as part of the Senior Learning Support Team under the direction of the Inclusion Manager and the EHC Co‑ordinator to coordinate the provision of Inclusive Learning Support for students across all sites. The postholder will work effectively with curriculum teaching staff to provide advice and guidance on effective support strategies for both low level and high needs students, and manage a team of Learning Support Assistants in the allocation of support areas and the completion of administration related to the role of an LSA.
The Inclusive Learning department provides one‑to‑one, workshops and in‑class support for students with a wide range of needs on mainstream programmes. Students may need support with Specific Learning Differences (SpLDs) like Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), moderate learning difficulties, mental health, physical, sensory, health or medical needs. The department supports a high number of students with Education Health and Care Plans.
The Inclusive Learning team carry out exam access assessments with students and make recommendations for reasonable adjustments based on their normal way of working. The ILS team supports the curriculum across college with reasonable adjustments and differentiating teaching and learning to meet individual student needs. The Learning Support area is a dedicated space for learners with additional learning needs to access their learning support from specialist staff.
Richmond upon Thames College is part of the Harrow, Richmond and Uxbridge College Group (HRUC) and is one of London's most successful Further Education Colleges providing education and training to 16‑19 year olds and adults from across Richmond, London and Surrey for over 80 years. We have opened a new building in 2020 and a brand‑new technology‑focused STEM Centre in 2024.
Please note: for individuals who start a term time only role after 1st September, the salary will be pro‑rated from the start date to the end of this academic year (31st August 2026). This ensures that the correct entitlement to pay and holiday pay relative to the portion of the year worked.
