Overview

Casual Recovery Worker role within Oak House – East Lancashire Recovery House, Burnley. Oak House is a mental health crisis unit operating to a recovery model with 24‑hour staffed support for residents aged 16 and upwards. The service provides practical and emotional therapeutic interventions in a relaxing environment designed to support recovery. The organisation is part of Waythrough, following the merger of Humankind and Richmond Fellowship, and supports people in the Midlands affected by substance use or gambling.

We are committed to reducing A&E and hospital admissions through evidence‑based CBT interventions, offering a range of intervention support and partnering with the NHS alongside the Home Treatment Team for clinical governance. We also provide services to help people with mental ill health connect with their local community, build social engagement, signpost to local services, and host awareness days to break down stigma and discrimination. A staffed 24/7 service is available to residents aged 18 and upwards.

Responsibilities

  • Help and inspire people who use our services to maintain their tenancy and independence in the community.
  • Work with individuals to develop a personal support plan to achieve their goals and aspirations, including development of domestic and financial management skills and access to work, leisure, or educational opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the team to deliver appropriate support within a recovery framework and participate in on‑call duties as part of a weekly rota system.
  • Contribute to creating a supportive environment that reflects the needs of the people we support and promotes recovery.

Qualifications

  • No relevant experience required as full training will be provided.
  • Applicants with an understanding of mental health issues and/or lived experience are welcomed.
  • Essential: caring, compassionate nature, empathy, enthusiasm for helping others, ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Open to a range of backgrounds; willingness to be part of a weekly rota system and on‑call duties.
