Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Finance Director will play a critical role in shaping the financial performance and strategic direction of the business. This position offers the opportunity to partner closely with senior leadership, ownership stakeholders, and operational teams while leading a dedicated finance function within a highly regarded luxury hotel environment.

This role will particularly suit a hands-on finance leader who enjoys being close to the detail, is comfortable operating within an entrepreneurial ownership structure, and is capable of balancing strategic thinking with day-to-day operational oversight.

What you'll do

  • Oversee all financial operations across the hotel, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting, and effective financial planning processes are in place to support the continued success of the business.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies that support both short and long-term business objectives.
  • Provide commercial insight and financial analysis to support decision-making, profitability initiatives, investment planning, and operational performance improvement.
  • Full responsibility for budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial reporting, statutory compliance, tax matters, and stakeholder reporting.
  • Ensure complete transparency and accountability across all financial activities while maintaining the highest standards of governance and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead a finance team of seven, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the department operates effectively while fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify efficiencies, strengthen controls, and optimise financial processes and systems across the business.
  • Regular interaction with ownership representatives, board members, external advisors, auditors, HMRC, and senior operational stakeholders.
  • Present financial information, challenge assumptions where necessary, and provide clear recommendations to support business performance.
  • Immerse yourself in the operation, build relationships across the business, and establish credibility with key stakeholders.

What you'll need

  • ACA, CIMA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • Proven experience within a senior finance leadership role.
  • Previous hospitality sector experience is essential; luxury hotel experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise.
  • Experience managing budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial planning processes.
  • Experience dealing directly with HMRC and regulatory compliance matters.
  • Strong commercial acumen and strategic financial leadership capabilities.
  • Experience leading and developing finance teams.
  • Hands-on approach with a willingness to engage with operational detail.
  • Experience using Opera PMS systems.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.

Package & Benefits

  • £100,000 – £115,000 base salary.
