Role Description:
- A client-facing leadership role that requires deep expertise in managing design and build (D&B) projects, ideally within the life sciences or similarly complex sectors.
- Lead and manage the full project lifecycle from inception to completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Act as the main point of contact for the client, design teams, and contractors, ensuring consistent communication and alignment across all stakeholders.
- Oversee design and build contracts, with specific emphasis on JCT Design and Build (D&B) contracts.
- Serve as Employer’s Agent where required, handling contract administration, procurement, change management, and stakeholder coordination.
- Support bid and pre-construction activities, including input into programme, logistics, and risk assessments.
- Drive governance, compliance, and performance reporting in line with project and client objectives.
- Manage and mentor junior team members, contributing to a high-performing, collaborative team culture.
- Be based in Bracknell, with a minimum of 4 days per week on site expected to ensure strong leadership presence and effective site coordination.
Requirements:
- Must have UK consultancy experience.
- Proven experience managing design and build (D&B) projects from inception to completion, with a strong track record in life sciences projects.
- Strong working knowledge and practical experience with JCT Design & Build contracts.
- Demonstrated capability in acting as Employer’s Agent, including contract administration, change control, and stakeholder management.
- Previous involvement in contract management and procurement processes on complex construction projects.
- Excellent client-facing and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and lead multi-disciplinary teams.
- Adept at managing project risk, governance, and reporting structures.
- Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision while collaborating closely with internal and external teams.
- Ideally chartered (MRICS, MAPM, MCIOB or equivalent) or working towards professional accreditation.
- A proactive and solutions-oriented mindset with a strong attention to detail.
- Willingness and ability to be based on site in Bracknell at least 4 days per week.
