Our client, a hospitality group is seeking a highly capable and commercially minded Director of Financial Reporting & Control to support a growing portfolio of hotel assets across Africa. Based in London and reporting into senior leadership, this role offers the opportunity to become the central financial point of coordination between hotel operations, finance teams, asset management, ownership stakeholders, and investment partners.

This is a hands‑on position requiring an individual who enjoys working with data, solving problems, and transforming complex financial information into meaningful business insight. The successful candidate will play a critical role in strengthening reporting processes, supporting governance and audit requirements, and delivering high‑quality financial information that enables informed decision‑making across the portfolio.

The role is ideally suited to someone who is comfortable operating within a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment, enjoys ownership and accountability, and is equally capable of challenging information and presenting conclusions with confidence to senior stakeholders.

What you’ll do

  • You will take ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting process across a portfolio of approximately ten hotel assets located throughout Africa. Acting as the central point of coordination between local finance teams and head office stakeholders, you will ensure financial information is received accurately, consistently, and within agreed reporting timelines.
  • Working closely with hotel finance managers and financial controllers, you will review, challenge, and consolidate reporting submissions from multiple jurisdictions, transforming financial data into clear and insightful management reports for shareholders, lenders, investment committees, and senior leadership teams.
  • You will support the audit process across the portfolio, coordinating information requests, ensuring compliance with accounting policies, and maintaining strong governance standards throughout the reporting cycle. The role will also involve overseeing cash flow reporting and forecasting, supporting budgeting activities, and driving continuous improvements in financial reporting quality and consistency.
  • In addition, you will contribute to strategic financial initiatives including acquisition analysis, refinancing projects, disposals, capital expenditure assessments, and financial modelling. You will work closely with operational and asset management teams to provide market benchmarking, revenue analysis, and commercial insights that support business performance.
  • This is a highly visible role requiring the confidence to present findings, explain financial performance, and engage with senior stakeholders across multiple regions and cultures.

What you’ll need

  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA, CA or equivalent)
  • Approximately 10–15 years’ experience within senior finance, reporting, audit, or financial control positions
  • Experience within hotels
  • Strong financial reporting, consolidation, and technical accounting expertise
  • Experience managing multi‑entity, multi‑currency, and multi‑jurisdiction reporting structures
  • Strong cash flow management, forecasting, and budgeting experience
  • Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical capabilities
  • Experience using accounting software such as Sage ERP 300 or similar ERP platforms
  • Strong attention to detail and a naturally inquisitive mindset
  • Comfortable challenging information and ensuring reporting accuracy
  • Confident communicator with the ability to present information clearly to senior stakeholders
  • Highly numerate
  • Proactive, hands‑on, and capable of working independently
  • Comfortable operating across multiple countries, cultures, and time zones

These immediately available or on short notice periods will be preferred.
