Salary Range: £36,432 – £44,147 per year (starting salary dependent on experience)
Permanent Fulltime
Location: Wandsworth Town Hall, Wandsworth High Street.
Objective of role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Pension Officer. If you are looking for a challenge or change of role and have proven attention to detail, are customer focused, numerate and have a track record of producing accurate work this may be the role for you. In this role, you will provide accurate calculations. You will engage with scheme members and employers in person, by telephone, email and letter. Your contribution to our team will help to provide a first-class service to members.
This is a very exciting phase for our service as we are transforming through expanding our staffing resources, greater use of automation and emphasis on people’s development. We are focused on continuous improvement and devising ever better ways of working, so you will thrive with us if you are keen to contribute your ideas on how to develop the service.
About The Role
The Pensions Shared Service, based in Wandsworth, runs the administration of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) for five London boroughs: Camden, Merton, Richmond, Waltham Forest and Wandsworth.
As a Pensions Officer, you will process benefit calculations, respond to queries from members and peer check colleagues’ casework.
Essential Qualifications, Skills And Experience
Knowledge and high capability of using the Microsoft Office packages (e.g. Word and Excel)
Knowledge and experience of the LGPS or other DB pension scheme(s)
Ability to apply and communicate this knowledge to employees, scheme members and colleagues in other service areas
An understanding of the Council’s equal opportunities policy in respect of service delivery and an awareness of the needs of differing cultural and minority groups.
Ability to work as a team to produce high quality work.
Ability to work flexibly and in response to customer demand and service needs.
The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to develop and promote the service through innovation and creativity.
