Hybrid – with travel across five boroughs

Objective of role

You will play a leading role in expanding access to meaningful work experience opportunities for young people across South London by building strong employer partnerships and creating a sustainable pipeline of opportunities. Working across education, employers and local partners, you will identify opportunities, broker relationships and influence stakeholders to ensure more young people can access high-quality experiences of the workplace that support their future progression.

You will help shape a more connected careers and skills system by ensuring employer engagement translates into meaningful opportunities that improve outcomes for young people.

About the role

In this varied and rewarding role, you will:

  • Build and maintain a strong network of employers across South London, developing long-term relationships that create meaningful opportunities for young people.
  • Identify, engage and recruit employers across priority sectors, securing high-quality work experience opportunities and employer encounters.
  • Act as a key broker between employers and education providers, ensuring opportunities are aligned to need and utilised effectively.
  • Work collaboratively with schools, colleges and Careers Hub colleagues to match opportunities with learners and maximise participation.
  • Drive implementation of the Work Experience Guarantee by developing sustainable models that increase access to high-quality placements.
  • Support employers to design and deliver meaningful experiences that align with recognised quality standards and frameworks.
  • Use data, insight and feedback to identify gaps, target activity and continuously improve delivery and impact.
  • Contribute to the development of a more connected employer engagement system across South London, helping create lasting change for young people.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Employer Engagement and Relationship Management - proven experience of engaging, influencing and building strong relationships with employers and stakeholders, creating long-term partnerships that deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Business Development and Opportunity Creation - experience of identifying, developing and converting opportunities, building and managing pipelines and delivering against targets and outcomes.
  • Influencing and Negotiation - strong influencing and negotiation skills, with confidence engaging employers, senior stakeholders and partners to secure commitment and action.
  • Strategic Thinking and System Working - the ability to think strategically, understand supply and demand across the system and connect employers, schools and partners to create scalable solutions.
  • Data and Performance Focus - experience of using data, insight and feedback to prioritise activity, improve performance and demonstrate impact.
  • Partnership and Programme Delivery - experience of coordinating initiatives or programmes involving multiple partners, ensuring opportunities are delivered effectively and achieve intended outcomes.
