As a Council Tax Administration Officer, you will play a key role in delivering an essential frontline service, helping to administer Council Tax accounts for nearly 250,000 properties across Richmond and Wandsworth. You will be part of a busy, supportive team responsible for maintaining accurate records, processing changes, and ensuring residents receive an efficient and professional service. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to customer service.
About the Role
- Supporting the Council Tax Service by undertaking high-volume administrative processing and routine account maintenance activities.
- Maintaining accurate customer records and account information.
- Responding to customer correspondence and enquiries by telephone, email and written communication.
- Investigating and resolving account queries in accordance with legislation and Council policies.
- Working closely with colleagues across Revenues, Benefits and other Council services.
- Supporting the delivery of annual billing and other key service activities.
- Contributing to service improvement initiatives to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience of working in a customer-focused environment.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Good IT skills, including experience of Microsoft Office applications.
- The ability to interpret information and make sound decisions.
- Previous experience in Council Tax, Revenues, Benefits or a similar local government environment would be advantageous but is not essential for candidates who can demonstrate transferable skills and a willingness to learn.
