Role
We are seeking 2 experienced Teaching Assistants to join our primary/early years provision.
Essential requirements
- Strong experience working in a special school primary or early years setting
- Experience working with pupils with Down's syndrome
- Confident and experienced in delivering personal care
- Proficient in using Makaton to support communication
- Grade A-C or Level 2 qualifications in English and Mathematics

Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils with Down's syndrome and other complex special educational needs in primary/early years settings
- Providing personal care including toileting, feeding and hygiene support
- Using Makaton and other communication strategies to support pupils' understanding and expression
- Supporting pupils in accessing learning activities as directed by the teacher
- Supervising and supporting pupils when swimming, including entering the water
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and families to deliver individual programmes
- Creating resources and adapting activities to meet individual learning needs
- Promoting inclusion, independence and positive behaviour
