36 hours per week (with a ½ hour unpaid lunch break), term‑time only – 39 weeks per year starting September 2026. Smallwood Primary School and Language Unit is seeking dedicated Support Staff to join our expanding team.
You’ll work closely with individual pupils and small groups, helping them achieve their full potential in a supportive and dynamic environment. With our Language Unit growing from 45 this September, there’s never been a more exciting time to join us! We are passionate about the education of our children, continuous professional development of all staff and a strong partnership with parents and the wider community. Within the Language Unit all pupils have an EHCP who have communication and language disorders including Autism. It is important to us that all adults contribute to the growth and development of every child and support their individual needs.
Key Responsibilities- Work closely with individual pupils and small groups, supporting them to achieve their full potential.
- Work under the direction of the class teacher and support individuals and small groups of children.
- Respond positively to the challenges of working with pupils of all abilities within the Language Unit.
- Support every child’s growth and development and meet their individual needs.
- Minimum of GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths.
- NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or relevant extensive experience.
- Calm, patient and resourceful with the ability to respond positively to challenges.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
