Location: Wandsworth

Are you ready to play a pivotal role in Wandsworth’s regeneration by ensuring residents and communities feel informed, included and heard as our regeneration plans take shape? Wandsworth Council is pioneering a place‑based approach to renewal that recognises the unique character of its diverse neighbourhoods while delivering coordinated change at scale. You will play a key role in supporting Wandsworth’s place approach in our regeneration programmes by providing residents, stakeholders and partners with timely, accurate and accessible information about the plans and projects. You will work closely with the place, regeneration and corporate communications teams to design and deliver strategic communications and engagement activity that strengthens understanding of, and confidence in, the council’s place‑led regeneration work.

About The Role

  • Act as the communications lead for regeneration projects, working collaboratively with officers and partners to deliver high‑quality, coordinated communications.
  • Develop and implement communications and engagement strategies aligned with the council’s regeneration objectives and place‑based priorities.
  • Create compelling, accessible and well‑targeted messaging across digital, social, print and face‑to‑face channels.
  • Translate complex, technical or political subject matter into clear and user‑friendly content for diverse audiences.
  • Manage a demanding workload and deliver high‑quality content to deadlines, including print and digital materials.
  • Monitor and evaluate communication activity, using insight and data to improve the effectiveness of campaigns and reporting regularly to senior colleagues.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Strong understanding of regeneration, place‑shaping and local community context.
  • Knowledge of GDPR, data handling and digital/social media best practice.
  • At least two years’ experience delivering multi‑channel communications campaigns.
  • Proven experience writing for press and media and creating engaging content.
  • Experience producing digital and print materials to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively with stakeholders and delivery partners.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Confident using CMS, social media, analytics tools and learning new systems quickly.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills, including working with data.
  • Ability to brief and collaborate with designers, creatives and external agencies.
