The Alton School seeks a receptionist/administrator to support its busy school office. The role involves welcoming children, staff, parents and visitors, handling inquiries, updating newsletters and school webpages, managing post and deliveries, organising appointments and events, assisting with routine finance-related administration, record keeping, and general office tasks. The position may also involve supporting children with medication or attending to unwell children, and supporting school trips.
Responsibilities:
- Welcoming children, staff, parents and visitors in a warm, friendly, and professional manner.
- Acting as a key contact point for queries and communicating effectively with parents, colleagues and other stakeholders.
- Managing incoming and outgoing post and deliveries.
- Organising appointments, meetings and events, including arranging catering and refreshments, preparing papers, and occasionally taking notes.
- Undertaking routine finance-related administration (training provided).
- Record keeping and data reporting.
- Printing, photocopying, filing, ordering stock, and other general office tasks.
- Providing supportive assistance to children (e.g., administering medication, sitting with unwell children) and supporting school trips when required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Computer competency.
- Good telephone manner.
- Good written communication skills.
- Experience of working in a similar role is desirable; training will be given on the job.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and demonstrate flexibility.
- Strong organisational skills and a positive attitude.
