Position Summary

Ashcroft Technology Academy seeks an additional Inclusive Care and Support mentor to provide support for students at risk of underachieving. The role involves working closely with students, Heads of Year, leadership teams and staff to develop individual support plans and facilitate reintegration into mainstream school life.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high‑quality one‑to‑one mentoring for students identified as having barriers to learning.
  • Develop and implement targeted support strategies that enable students to overcome academic, social and emotional challenges.
  • Collaborate with school leadership and staff to accommodate students’ needs and secure appropriate resources.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records using ICT systems.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/carers and external agencies to coordinate support.
  • Contribute to a positive, supportive school environment and model respectful behaviour.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrated experience working with young people in a school setting.
  • Ability to handle challenging behaviour and complex circumstances with confidence.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Excellent organisational and ICT proficiency.
  • Team‑working capability within a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
  • Commitment to raising student achievement and supporting inclusive practice.

Working Hours and Flexibility

Full‑time – 36½ hours per week (term‑time only). Part‑time hours and flexible working patterns, including arrangements around individual circumstances during the school day, will also be considered. Some flexibility in working hours is required, including occasional evening meetings throughout the academic year.
