Sitting at the heart of the Council, you will be part of the Leader’s Office Team providing fast-paced support to Wandsworth Council’s Leader and Cabinet. You will be joining us at an exciting time of change – working closely with the political administration to support the delivery of their vision for a fairer, compassionate and more sustainable borough.

About The Role

This is an exciting role in which you will provide policy and research support, briefings, and policy casework to the Leader of the Council and the Cabinet, to ensure they are able to make effective decisions, communicate their work, and able to work in partnership with residents, businesses, stakeholders and communities. Sitting in our wider Chief Executive’s Group, you will be well-placed to work collaboratively with our policy, communications and governance teams as well as colleagues across the Council.

Essential Qualifications, Skills And Experience

  • Passionate about making a difference.
  • Highly organised and adaptable with the ability to balance a heavy workload with fixed deadlines and timescales.
  • Confident communicator in person and in writing.
  • Good relationship building skills with the confidence to operate with key stakeholders at the highest levels of the Council.
  • Good understanding of the political environment, and the role of the Leader’s Office in supporting the Leader and Cabinet.
  • Understanding of how the changing regional and national policy landscapes might affect and provide opportunities for Wandsworth.

Although you will be employed by the Richmond & Wandsworth Better Service Partnership, this role is specific to Wandsworth only.

The team’s current work pattern is four days per week in the office, one day per week working remotely.
