Salary Range Apprentice Grade

Year 1 – 80% London Living Wage

Year 2 – 100% London Living Wage

Full time, Fixed Term for 48 months until successful completion of apprenticeship

We have 2 x vacancies as a Plasterer Apprentice.

Objective of role

As an Apprentice Plasterer, you will play a vital role in supporting the council’s commitment to maintaining safe, comfortable, and well-maintained living environments for residents across the borough. Working alongside experienced tradespeople, you will assist in the preparation, application, and finishing of plasterwork within council-owned properties.

This practical role offers a valuable opportunity to develop hands-on plastering skills while contributing to the wellbeing of the local community. You’ll help ensure that surfaces such as walls and ceilings are smooth, durable, and finished to a high standard, improving both the appearance and structural integrity of residential properties.

Your contribution will have a direct impact on residents’ comfort and satisfaction with their homes, and you’ll gain meaningful experience in public service delivery, attention to detail, and collaborative working, all within a structured and supportive apprenticeship programme.

About the role

  • Assist in the preparation, application, and finishing of plasterwork within residential properties across the borough.
  • Support qualified plasterers in identifying and resolving issues.
  • Carry out routine inspections and basic plastering tasks under supervision, including patch repairs, skimming, and surface preparation.
  • Learn and apply health and safety standards in all aspects of plastering and property maintenance work.
  • Engage with residents professionally and respectfully while working in their homes.
  • Record and report work completed using council systems and procedures.

  • A genuine interest in plastering and property maintenance.
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions from experienced tradespeople.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude.

  • Commitment to completing the apprenticeship programme, including attending training sessions and assessments.
