Job Title: Deputy Temporary Accommodation & Procurement Manager
Salary Range: £44,773 – £52,674 per annum
Fixed Term – Fulltime

Objective of role
Can you see yourself playing an important role in leading the team responsible for procuring private sector properties (PRS) and long-term temporary accommodation for homeless families across Richmond and Wandsworth? This is a unique opportunity to work within a ground-breaking shared staffing structure across both boroughs. You will be primarily responsible for ensuring the supply of cost-effective, suitable temporary and private sector accommodation to meet the Councils\’ statutory homeless duties.
About the role
You will manage a front-line team actively procuring private sector accommodation for clients at risk of homelessness, as well as securing properties for long-term temporary accommodation.
We are seeking a self-motivated manager with a proven track record of leading teams, exceeding targets through effective team development and management.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Working knowledge of complex legislation relevant to the role, particularly homeless legislation and welfare reform.
- Understanding of accommodation suitability and the discharge of homeless duty under Section 193(5) – Housing Act 1996 Part VII.
- Good practices around property inspections, landlord and tenant legislation, including the Housing Health and Safety Rating System.
- Excellent communication and mediation skills, especially when dealing with landlords and vulnerable applicants.
- Knowledge of the private sector lettings market within a local authority setting.
- Ability to apply working knowledge of relevant legislation, case law, welfare benefits, and landlord and tenant law.
