Overview

As an Apprentice Plasterer, you will play a vital role in supporting the council\’s commitment to maintaining safe, comfortable, and well-maintained living environments for residents across the borough. Working alongside experienced tradespeople, you will assist in the preparation, application, and finishing of plasterwork within council-owned properties. This practical role offers a valuable opportunity to develop hands-on plastering skills while contributing to the wellbeing of the local community. You\\\’ll help ensure that surfaces such as walls and ceilings are smooth, durable, and finished to a high standard, improving both the appearance and structural integrity of residential properties. Your contribution will have a direct impact on residents\\\’ comfort and satisfaction with their homes, and you\\\’ll gain meaningful experience in public service delivery, attention to detail, and collaborative working, all within a structured and supportive apprenticeship programme.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation, application, and finishing of plasterwork within residential properties across the borough.
  • Support qualified plasterers in identifying and resolving issues.
  • Carry out routine inspections and basic plastering tasks under supervision, including patch repairs, skimming, and surface preparation.
  • Learn and apply health and safety standards in all aspects of plastering and property maintenance work.
  • Engage with residents professionally and respectfully while working in their homes.
  • Record and report work completed using council systems and procedures.
