Richland County School District One, South Carolina is seeking a Coordinator of Social Work. Under limited supervision, this position coordinates, oversees, and evaluates the District's school social work services to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and alignment with District goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Program Leadership and Oversight: Develops, implements, and evaluates the District's social work program to ensure compliance with federal, state, and District policies and regulations. Assists in securing and administering grant funding for special projects as needed. Establishes annual goals and objectives for social work services and recommends program improvements based on data and outcomes. Monitors program effectiveness through school visits, case reviews, and analysis of reports. Keeps abreast of current trends and innovations in school social work and ensures staff remain informed and trained accordingly.
- Supervision and Staff Development: Supervises school social workers and assigned personnel, including assigning caseloads, establishing schedules, and directing daily operations. Conducts performance evaluations and provides ongoing coaching, guidance, and support. Participates in the selection, hiring, onboarding, and retention of social work staff. Plans and facilitates professional development, in-service training, and capacity-building initiatives to include training and support to school attendance teams.
- Student and Family Support Services: Provides direct casework, counseling, and consultation services to students and families as needed. Assists with complex student cases, including transfer requests, hearings, and referrals. Collaborates with school administrators, teachers, and multidisciplinary teams to address student needs and barriers to success. Communicates with parents/guardians regarding services and recommendations.
- Collaboration and Community Engagement: Establishes and maintains partnerships with community agencies and service providers. Represents the District on committees, boards, and task forces related to student services. Coordinates services with internal and external stakeholders to enhance student support systems.
- Compliance, Reporting, and Communication: Reviews reports, case documentation, and data submitted by school social workers for accuracy and compliance to include Medicaid activities and billing. Prepares and maintains required documentation, including case records, summaries, reports, and correspondence. Reviews, monitors and audits the fidelity of implementation of student attendance practices at schools. Responds to inquiries, concerns, and complaints related to social work services. Ensures adherence to confidentiality standards, legal requirements, and District policies.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) required.
- Six (6) to nine (9) years of experience in social work, including supervisory or leadership experience.
- Must possess LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker) certification.
- Demonstrated knowledge of school social work practices, child welfare laws, and student support systems.

- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and District laws, policies, and procedures.

Physical Requirements
