We are working with a Utilities Contractor who specialise in potable water and water infrastructure works across the Southern region. Currently recruiting a Compliance Supervisor / Health and Safety Inspector who has previous experience in either the utilities or civils engineering sectors. You will have good knowledge of NRSWA / CDM 2015 and health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor images submitted to the works management system, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and standards.
  • Provide feedback and training to site teams on compliance best practices.
  • Ensure personal health and safety and that of all on site personnel including clients, sub-contractors, suppliers, visitors, and the general public.
  • Comply with all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote Health and Safety.
  • Develop and coach Team Leaders, Assistants, and Support Staff.
  • Develop and present Toolbox Talks, Training, coaching, and weekly safety briefings as required.
  • Conduct site inspections and audits to verify adherence to health & safety, environmental, and operational procedures.
  • Carry out audits – minimum 2 per week.
  • Maintain accurate records of audits, inspections, and compliance reports.
  • Escalate incidents, near misses, and major non-conformances to the Operational Compliance Manager.
  • Recognise different services during excavation, foreseeing any potential issues before continuing, offering advice and coaching to the team.
  • Ensure that the execution of all operational works is carried out safely, within company documented Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
  • Work closely with site supervisors, reinstatement teams, and managers to promote a culture of compliance.
  • Assist with investigations into safety incidents and non-conformances, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Carry out investigations into accidents/incidents where required.
  • Be available for standby, weekend, and out of hours working, to meet the requirements of our customers and the industry.
  • Meet with clients as directed.
  • Ensure any plant or equipment proposed for use is in good condition and within maintenance and inspection timescale / calibration dates.
  • Report any damages to plant or equipment.

Competency Requirements:

  • A current EUSR Blue Water Card.
  • A current EUSR SHEA (W) qualification.
  • A NRSWA (Supervisors) qualification.
  • A current IOSH managing safely, SSSTS or SMSTS qualification.
  • Full, clean UK driving Licence.
  • Communication and organisational skills.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify risks and non-conformances.
  • Experience working with water utilities, highways, or reinstatement teams.
