We currently have an opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer (Multiskilled) at our Crisp Malt, Portgordon location.

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Site Manager/Scotland Maintenance Supervisor, the Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer carries out planned and reactive maintenance of all site and plant equipment to ensure the required levels of malt production are achieved, working in accordance with GMP, trade-related legislation and best practice.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance.
  • Contribute efficiency improvements around all areas of the site.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement on site by maintaining a vigilant approach to your work, identifying, and reporting any areas of interest to site management.
  • Complete maintenance paperwork/computer entry in line with company procedures.
  • Recommend improvements to the operation of equipment where appropriate.
  • Contribute to the installation and commissioning of new equipment and plant where appropriate.
  • Ensure full compliance with all relevant electrical and mechanical engineering regulations, ATEX Regulations, Health & Safety at Work Act, Company Policies and Procedures, Food Safety Regulations, and Environmental Procedures.
  • Be available for emergency call‑out as required.
  • Engage in continued personal development by keeping up to date with new techniques, processes and equipment, undertaking training courses and in‑house training as required.
  • Maintain high levels of engineering hygiene and housekeeping.
  • Carry out other duties from time to time that may be reasonably requested.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Recognised Apprenticeship/Engineering with industrial electrical bias.
  • C&G 2360 part 2 or BTEC, HNC, NVQ equivalent with industrial electrical bias.
  • Demonstrable problem‑solving abilities and quality awareness.
  • Confident in using computer‑based maintenance systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of motors, inverter drives, soft‑start systems.
  • Demonstrable ability in mechanical testing, fault finding, installation and inspection.

Desirable

  • Experience working within maltings with knowledge of DSEAR regulations.
  • Knowledge of material handling systems: bucket elevators, belt conveyors, screws, diverters, etc.
  • Familiarity with PLC systems.
  • BS761 Electrical Installations Course.
  • 18th Edition certification.
  • Basic understanding of malting processes.
