We currently have an opportunity for a HGV Driver at our Crisp Malt, Great Ryburgh (Hempton) location.

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Transport Manager, the HGV class 1 driver is responsible for delivering malted barley to customers nationwide and collecting raw materials for delivery into UK sites.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise the safe loading of vehicle trailer ensuring gross weight is not exceeded.
  • Ensure correct delivery paperwork is collected and signed for at delivery point.
  • Refuel vehicle in accordance with instruction from traffic office as to where to source fuel.
  • Ensure vehicle trailers are kept clean externally as practicable as possible.
  • Internally clean trailer periodically as determined by the traffic office.
  • Observe EU drivers hours regulations including Working Time Directive for mobile workers.
  • Observe speed limits.
  • Complete daily vehicle defect inspection and report accordingly.
  • Improve consistency and best practice across the sites.
  • Drive safely at all times showing due consideration to other road users.
  • Comply with Health and Safety standards to provide a safe environment for both the team and the production sites.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Essential: HGV class 1 driving licence.
  • Driver CPC card.
  • Driver Tachograph card.
  • Willing to spend nights away.
  • Desirable: Experience working within a bulk grain transport operation.
  • Experience of working within a TASCC scheme transport operation.
  • 12 months HGV driving experience.
