Operating under Richardson Oat Milling, Crisp Malt, EDME, and Micronized Food Products (MFP), Richardson supplies the domestic and international food, brewing, and distilling industries.

We currently have an opportunity for a Temporary Laboratory Technician at our Crisp Malt, Great Ryburgh location.

Primary objective: Laboratory Technicians are responsible for delivering quality assured results in a timely manner to Crisp Malt sites.

They are expected to contribute to the effective and efficient running of the laboratory.

A Laboratory Technician should have a good organisational and technical skills with the capacity to work well in a team environment.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Laboratory Analysis – Follow written methods of analysis ensuring the highest standards of accuracy. Ensure these test methodologies are properly understood and carried out.
  • Result Reporting – Report results in a timely manner. Compile, collate and analyse quality data as required.
  • Result Documentation – Record and keep results produced in the required format, paper, computer, LIMS etc.
  • Instrumentation and Equipment – Instruments and equipment should be maintained in a clean condition and be in a fully working order.

Any equipment issues are to be reported to the Laboratory Manager.

  • Working Area - All areas should be kept clean and tidy to an auditable standard to ensure high hygiene and safety standards.
  • Procedures – Maintain procedures as required to determine laboratory performance. This includes daily check malt and external analysis proficiency schemes.
  • Stock Levels – Monitor consumable and chemical stocks and any short falls be reported promptly to the Laboratory Manager.
  • Relationships – Good working relationship within the Laboratory, internal customers, so to promote Richardson Laboratory as a high-quality service provider.
  • Ways of Working – Technicians should be flexible and through training, become proficient in all procedures.

Technicians’ knowledge is a resource which should be shared to mutual benefit.

  • Compliance – Comply with company, national and international standards and legislation as appropriate to laboratory and business operations to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Health and Safety – To ensure compliance to health and safety procedures and take an active role in improving Laboratory and Site safety.

Report identified hazards, near misses and accidents to the Laboratory Manager as soon as possible to allow action to be taken.

  • School Level Science
  • Understanding of the safe use of chemicals
