Deliver freight and heavy loads safely and efficiently across the UK using a Class 1 vehicle. Shifts start between 5.30am and 8.00am Monday to Friday. Weekend and overnight work is by mutual agreement. Flexibility is essential, including driving smaller vehicles and completing other tasks when required.
The role requires good communication, organisation, a positive attitude, and a calm, professional manner under pressure.
The main duties are listed below:
- Drive HGV Class 1 vehicles safely and in line with the Highway Code and regulatory standards.
- Complete multi-drop deliveries and collections.
- Communicate calmly and professionally with clients and colleagues.
- Keep accurate delivery records and obtain customer authorisation, including electronic job sign-off.
- Update the office and customers on issues to support safe, efficient working.
- Plan and follow safe, efficient routes.
- Keep the vehicle clean, safe and roadworthy by completing daily walk-round checks and reporting defects.
- Load and unload the vehicle safely.
- Check freight before departure and comply with Civil Aviation rules and regulations.
- Download tachograph data weekly.
- Wear correct PPE while on duty.
- Maintain job knowledge through training.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Provide a full 5-year history for security clearance, with references and covering gaps over 28 days.
- Clean UK driving licence with no disqualifications in the last 3 years.
- Driver Qualification Card and CPC periodic training.
- Digital tachograph card.
