Our client is an established Ferrous Metals trader with an international presence. An experienced Structured Trade Finance Specialist is sought to join a dynamic Finance team based in London. The successful candidate will work closely with finance, treasury, commercial, and operational teams across the business. In this stand-alone role you will be the main interface between the business and financing partners/banks and support the continued growth of the organisation.

The role is responsible for supporting and managing trade and structured finance activities, with a focus on working capital optimisation, receivables financing, inventory monetisation, supply chain finance, and other structured funding solutions. The ideal candidate will have 5–10 years of relevant experience gained within a bank, trade finance fund, commodity trading house, or corporate finance environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the execution, administration, and ongoing management of structured finance transactions and facilities, including credit analysis, risk assessment, transaction structuring, legal documentation, stakeholder management, and post-closing monitoring. The role requires strong commercial awareness, analytical capability, and the ability to manage multiple transactions in a fast-paced environment. The candidate should possess excellent communication and relationship management skills, demonstrate a high level of attention to detail, and consistently deliver accurate work within demanding timeframes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations and administration of trade finance and structured finance facilities.
  • Support the maintenance, utilisation, and development of existing financing lines and funding relationships.
  • Coordinate the full transaction lifecycle from origination and structuring through execution, drawdown, monitoring, and repayment.
  • Assist with credit limit applications, facility utilisation reporting, and lender information requests.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with banks, financial institutions, insurers, and other financing partners.
  • Partner with commercial and operational teams to understand business requirements and develop alternative financing solutions.
  • Structure and support a range of financing solutions including:
    • Payables and supply chain finance
    • Inventory monetisation and inventory financing
    • Prepayment and structured commodity finance
    • Hedging-related financing
    • Term debt and capital market solutions
  • Monitor, amend, and issue Letters of Credit (LCs), Guarantees, and other trade finance instruments.
  • Work closely with Treasury to support liquidity management and cash flow forecasting.
  • Assist in the preparation of lender presentations, credit papers, management reports, and financing proposals.
  • Support strategic financing initiatives and special projects as required.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, financing agreements, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor transaction performance and identify potential risks or operational issues.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in structured trade finance, commodity finance, corporate banking, treasury, or a related commercial finance environment.
  • Proven experience managing relationships with banks, financial institutions, and financing partners.
  • Strong understanding of receivables financing, inventory financing, supply chain finance, and working capital optimisation techniques.
  • Practical experience with Letters of Credit, Guarantees, and other trade finance instruments.
  • Experience reviewing and managing financing and security documentation.
  • Strong understanding of commodity transaction flows, contract execution processes, shipping documentation, and banking documentation.
  • Knowledge of transaction risk management, including:
    • Legal title and ownership structures
    • Security and collateral arrangements
    • Storage and inventory management considerations
    • Logistics and transportation risks
    • Cross-border transactions and legal jurisdictions
    • Commodity price risk and hedging mechanisms
  • Familiarity with futures and OTC markets, including exchanges such as NYMEX and ICE.
  • Experience with sustainability-linked finance, carbon markets, or environmental certificate financing would be advantageous.
  • Experience within a financial institution, commodity trading company, or multinational corporate environment is preferred.
