Senior Group Accountant

Our client is an exciting Central London-based, international Energy & Commodity trading company seeking an experienced Group Accountant/Controller to join their growing business.

As a senior finance executive, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and supporting decision‑making processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, analyse, and present financial statements for the company and its subsidiaries
• Prepare, consolidate, and submit financial reports to regulatory authorities and stakeholders
• Manage and oversee the day‑to‑day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger
• Monitor cash flow and liquidity positions, providing regular updates to the management team
• Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision‑making processes, including pricing strategies and investment opportunities
• Collaborate with internal departments and external auditors to ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards
• Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and controls

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA qualification preferred
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably within Energy or Commodities, or Shipping / Mining
• Strong experience with group consolidation
• Strong experience with producing financial statements
• Strong experience with general ledger functions and the month‑end/year end close process
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations, including IFRS and GAAP
• Able to work independently, and identify and raise concerns
• Proficient in financial software and MS Office suite, with advanced Excel skills
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a strong attention to detail
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams
