We are seeking an Oil Products Analyst to join a global energy trading organisation in London. The role involves providing detailed analysis and forecasts across global oil markets, with a focus on refining economics, supply-demand balances, and market trends, particularly within Light Ends (LPG, Naphtha, Gasoline). You will apply a strong understanding of refining operations alongside geopolitical, regulatory, and macroeconomic drivers to support decision-making across trading, upstream, and strategic functions. The role provides broad exposure to the full commodity trading lifecycle through close interaction with trading, shipping, operations, scheduling, credit, middle office, back office, legal, finance, and contracts teams. Flexibility is required to support cross-functional collaboration and provide operational cover when needed, including occasional out-of-hours work depending on business requirements. The organisation operates globally across crude oil, refined products, and biofuels, with integrated trading, logistics, and supply chain activities. It is actively engaged in both traditional and lower-carbon energy markets, with a growing emphasis on sustainability and the energy transition.
Main Responsibilities
- Synthesising cross-regional and cross-product fundamental views, with a focus on Light Ends (LPG, Naphtha, Gasoline).
- Developing, implementing, and enhancing analytical tools and models to support real-time market analysis.
- Validating and challenging modelling approaches through back-testing and research.
- Maintaining global energy datasets, refining balances, and supply-demand forecasts.
- Producing reports and presentations for management, including analysis of crude and refined product profitability.
- Supporting improvements to IT systems and analytical infrastructure to enhance efficiency and output quality.
Skills and Experience Required
- University degree in a numerate discipline (e.g. economics, mathematics, science, engineering or similar).
- Experience in a similar analytical or market-focused role.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and generate insights.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in analysis and reporting.
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work across multiple functions.
- Adaptability to changing market conditions and evolving industry dynamics.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address complex analytical challenges.
