We are currently partnering with a growing commodity trading business to hire a Senior Commodity Market Analyst to join their London team. This is an opportunity to join a well-backed, commercially driven trading environment with strong exposure to global agricultural supply chains, particularly across sugar and grain markets. The business has an established international footprint and is continuing to expand its trading and analytics capabilities from London.
The role sits at the heart of the trading function, working closely with traders and senior leadership to deliver data-driven insights that directly influence commercial decision-making.
Key responsibilities include:
- Analysing global sugar and/or wheat markets, including supply/demand dynamics, trade flows, and pricing trends
- Monitoring key market drivers such as weather, crop reports, government policy, and macroeconomic factors
- Developing short-, medium-, and long-term price forecasts and market outlooks
- Building and maintaining proprietary analytical and forecasting models
- Tracking futures markets, spreads, and hedging indicators
- Identifying arbitrage opportunities and emerging trends
- Producing market reports and presenting insights to internal stakeholders
- Working closely with trading, logistics, and procurement teams to support execution
We are looking for:
- 5+ years’ experience in agricultural commodities analysis (sugar, wheat, or related markets)
- Strong understanding of global commodity markets and pricing mechanisms
- Advanced analytical and modelling capability, with strong Excel skills
- Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights
- Commercial mindset and experience working closely with trading teams
- A self-starter who thrives in a lean, fast-paced environment
- Experience with futures markets, risk management, and emerging market trade flows would be advantageous.
